Poem #1 Gun Control

The gun must be held very steady

Aim should be accurate each time

Resolve must not be lost

This is Gun Control

I've read poetry since I was nine and have written creatively since I was fourteen (probably long before that). After writing book reviews and social comment, I decided I wanted to write poetry. I have no formal training, but I surround myself with poets and their writing. I am honing my craft. I have two published collections which I don't feel good about, but have been published by madswirl.com and other publications. I live on the south coast of England with my daughter. I am seriously ill.

  1. sadly true, criminals will obtain weapons regardless of restrictions placed upon the population. I think very strong laws must be in place and adhered to, protection for our children, guns out of reach. A sad situation.

      1. no, not at all. I am not either, but I still think criminals will get guns if they want them regardless of our laws.

      2. I was astounded when one of your police men was stabbed to death by a terrorist and had no weapon other than a bat to defend himself. Perhaps rethinking is necessary on both sides of the pond in the current environment.

      3. It’s hard to explain. The absence of arms with the typical police officer is our consent to be policed. When armed police are called out is is due to lack of consent. We have armed police in places in London, usually at places where there is a mass of people and buildings which would make an ideal hostage/bomb venue.
