Bid For A Bride, my libretto…

While I lived in California, I was talking with a friend while driving in my car. He wanted to find his ex-wife. It reminded me of a story in the Bible, and I could clearly see a musical on stage. It never left my head.

It was not until I was back in England that I began to write the lyrics. It just flowed. All my friends told me not to ask a certain ‘musician’ to help with the score. Stupidly, I eventually did, but told him I had no interest in him composing. So what happened…?

Les Sherlock stole my intellectual property. He is bombastic and does not take no for an answer.

This is what he wrote about it…

He claims I asked him after finding no one else.

I've read poetry since I was nine and have written creatively since I was fourteen (probably long before that). After writing book reviews and social comment, I decided I wanted to write poetry. I have no formal training, but I surround myself with poets and their writing. I am honing my craft.
I have two published collections which I don't feel good about, but have been published by and other publications. I live on the south coast of England with my daughter. I am seriously ill.

It’s a nightmare. There’s needing to prove I told him not to write music for it. There’s the fact that the show was put on. I felt completely bullied and intimidated. We were invited to a radio show to talk about it, and Les did all the talking until we were asked how the idea was born. He looked very uncomfortable and I spoke about how the idea was birthedin my mind and wrote lyrics for over a year. Courts want proof. Les knows he stole it. Enough & it’s here. The truth is here.
