Longing

A poem

Another cycle is past
You’re in my gaze again,

Like the O in longing
you are a friend to me

Moon, shine on all night
I’m watching your awesome light

Longing is mine, but for what?
A love that is ever true to me

Moon, shine on all night
I’m watching your awesome light

Love has come my way, agreed
it just don’t seem to stay

I love those who are in my life
but my breathing falters now

I’m not quite ready to go there
my longing is to stay a while

Moon, shine on all night
I’m watching your awesome light

I've read poetry since I was nine and have written creatively since I was fourteen (probably long before that). After writing book reviews and social comment, I decided I wanted to write poetry. I have no formal training, but I surround myself with poets and their writing. I am honing my craft.
I have two published collections which I don't feel good about, but have been published by madswirl.com and other publications. I live on the south coast of England with my daughter. I am seriously ill.
